THE HISTORY
1923: THE BEGINNING.
In Bagnolo Mella, Northern Italy, Italo Facenti begins to produce high quality knitted socks for man, using the finest yarns available: Pure Silk and Cotton Lisle Fil d’Ecosse. Shortly “Calzificio Facenti” becomes a true hallmark of elegance and refinement.
1926: THE HOSIERY MILL.
In the very heart of the town the building of the premises starts, using hand-made bricks that are baked on site. The new mill can accommodate the manufacturing plant, the warehouse and the offices. The company’s headquarters remain in the original facilities up to 2000.
1945: THE SECOND GENERATION.
The II World War is over and Luigi, Italo’s son gradually succeeds his father in the family company. Those are the times when new synthetic fibers are invented and almost every producer realizes that the future is women’s legware. Italy is the world’s largest men’s socks producer and the area near Brescia that houses the firm is an integrated and self contained industrial district, where 80% of the world’s socks-making machinery is manufactured. “Calzificio Facenti” continues to thrive and their name is then nation known.
1985: THE THIRD GENERATION.
Luigi passes his reins down to his two daughters Claudia and Michela. A new management style and a refreshed breed of creativity, sophistication and quality of the products launch the company into new fashion markets.
2000: THE NEW PREMISES.
Claudia and Michela managing the company into the new millennium move to the new production and warehousing site, just a few minutes away from the historical headquarters.
